Running throughout the season on Sports Radio 810 WHB, the Sporting Kansas City Show presented by Michelob Ultra is available on several podcast hubs including Spotify and iTunes as well as SportingKC.com. With Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Conall McCourt hosting the weekly program, Sporting fans have a place to go to catch up on club storylines, guest interviews and more.
Sporting Kansas City homegrown forward Daniel Salloi was the man of the hour in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Austin FC at Children's Mercy Park, stroking home a second-half equalizer to help move his team within a point of first place in the Supporters' Shield standings.
On Tuesday, the in-form winger was also the star of the Sporting Kansas City Show presented by Michelob Ultra. Joining hosts Nate Bukaty, Aly Trost and Conall McCourt for an insightful discussion that covered multiple topics, Salloi reflected on what has been an impressive bounce-back campaign for the Hungarian thus far.
After totaling one goal and one assist in 2019 and 2020 combined, Salloi now ranks third in MLS this year with six combined goals (four) and assists (two).
“It’s a very exciting time for me (because) this is the best start to a season in my career,” Salloi said. “In 2018 I did well but I’m having a better start to the season right now. Hopefully I can keep it up because—not going to lie—a lot of things went through my head in the past two years. This is just a big relief that I can enjoy (soccer) because every minute of it is awesome. I can’t wait for the next game and then the next one.
“It’s funny to see because the people around me—my teammates, my family, my friends—they are all super excited. Everybody seems super relieved that (my form) is coming back and everything is going as it is supposed to. Sometimes things go through your head and confidence is lacking. When the offseason comes around, you start thinking that maybe it isn’t working out right now. But I get all of the support I can, and I think that shows on the field.”
A jam-packed episode also featured an in-depth segment with MLSsoccer.com's Tom Bogert, who reported on recent developments involving Sporting Kansas City midfielder Gianluca Busio.
The 19-year-old Sporting KC Academy product has played a leading role for Manager Peter Vermes' side, showing technical skill, tactical nous and remarkable versatility well beyond his years as one of the league's best young players. These performances have prompted many to believe that Busio is on the brink of breaking into the United States Men's National Team ahead of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Riding a four-game unbeaten run, Sporting Kansas City (5-2-2, 17 points) will look to stay hot on Saturday night when they venture to Providence Park for a compelling road test against the Portland Timbers (3-4-0, 9 points) at 9:30 p.m. CT.
No Other Pub, a premier restaurant and sports entertainment venue located in the Kansas City Power & Light District, will host the official watch party for Saturday's match. From 9 p.m. CT until full time, No Other Pub will offer multiple food and drink specials—$4 Michelob Ultras, $4 select call cocktails and $2 off appetizers—and select fans in attendance will come away with a signed Sporting jersey, an autographed soccer ball or tickets to a future home match at Children's Mercy Park.
Supporters watching from home can catch the action on Bally Sports Kansas City, Bally Sports Midwest, BallySports.com and the new Bally Sports app as well as Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.
