Sporting Kansas City will host the club’s annual Sporting Slam pickleball tournament on Thursday, July 18 at Chicken N Pickle (5901 W. 135th St.) in Overland Park, Kansas with all proceeds from the event benefitting The Victory Project.
The tournament will feature up to 32 teams in beginner (4:30-7:30 p.m.) and advanced (7:30-10:30 p.m.) divisions. Registration is open online and each participant will receive access to a food buffet, two drink tickets and a custom-designed pickleball paddle as part of the $150 entry fee per team. Winning teams will receive tickets to attend Sporting Kansas City’s home match against rivals St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday, July 20 in addition to a swag bag with exclusive gear from SportingStyle.
Chicken N Pickle, a pub partner in the Sporting Pub Network, hosted the inaugural Sporting Slam last summer with a sold-out tournament of teams and the venue also welcomed fans for the club’s Season Kickoff event in 2023 as well as a Season Ticket Member Night Before Party in March to celebrate this year’s home opener. The Overland Park location opened in 2021 and features an indoor/outdoor entertainment complex with a full-service restaurant, sports bar and leisure games for guests.
Sporting Slam is presented by Price Chopper and Sobe Promos, and the tournament is part of a series of upcoming fundraising events for The Victory Project, including Yoga on the Pitch (July 13), the Victory Run x Planet Fitness 5K (July 20), the Kicks N Fits Victory Gala (Aug. 10) and the Sporting Invitational (October 14).
Established in 2013, The Victory Project enriches the lives of kids fighting cancer and eliminates barriers to the sport of soccer for children. Individuals or organizations interested in supporting the philanthropic foundation can make a donation online or via Tiptap donation devices at Sporting Kansas City home matches during the Major League Soccer season.
