Sporting Kansas City (9-11-7, 34 points) earned a second straight win last Thursday as Erik Hurtado scored late in a 1-0 defeat of Minnesota United FC. Manager Peter Vermes' men will conclude their three-game homestand Saturday night when rivals Houston Dynamo (9-14-4, 31 points) visit Children's Mercy Park for a pivotal Western Conference clash at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the contest are available at SeatGeek.com and the first 7,500 fans in attendance will receive Sporting KC branded sling grips for their mobile phones courtesy of match sponsor U.S. Bank.
FOX Sports Kansas City Plus, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO will provide three hours of live coverage on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. CT. A new episode of The Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT on Sports Radio 810 WHB. BLDWN, a modern American fashion brand, has announced its first collaboration with Sporting Kansas City. The limited-edition items, which consist of a BLDWN x SKC hat, long-sleeve T-shirt and short-sleeve T-shirt, will be available to shoppers at BLDWN Market on the Country Club Plaza (422 Nichols Rd., Kansas City, MO) for the first time on Wednesday during a launch event from 6-8 p.m. featuring food, drinks, a local DJ and appearances by the following Sporting players:
- Defenders Matt Besler, Rodney Wallace and Graham Zusi
- Midfielders Gianluca Busio, Roger Espinoza and Benny Feilhaber

The 2019 MLS Roster Freeze date is set for this Friday, Aug. 31, requiring all teams to submit a final 30-man roster for the remainder of the 2019 campaign. Per MLS rules, no changes can be made to a club's roster during the period beginning Sept. 1 through the day after 2019 MLS Cup, which is scheduled for Nov. 10.
On Saturday morning, SportingStyle will open matchday mobile orders for that evening's game between Sporting and Houston. Fans will have the opportunity to place mobile orders through halftime by visiting SportingStyle.com, with pickup on the Toyota Plaza remaining open until after the match. Select items from the limited-edition BLDWN x SKC collection will be available at Children's Mercy Park while supplies last.
Three Sporting Kansas City Academy teams will take the field Saturday at Swope Soccer Village, playing their first matches of the inaugural DA Cup in a tripleheader against the Michigan Wolves. The U-15s will kick off at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the U-17s at noon and the U-19s at 2:30 p.m. All three matches are free and open to the public, and fans can follow @SKCAcademy on Twitter for live updates.
The Swope Park Rangers (3-14-6, 15 points) will continue their USL Championship campaign on Sunday, visiting Bethlehem Steel FC (6-12-5, 23 points) at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania. The Eastern Conference matchup will kick off at 5 p.m. CT and stream live on ESPN Plus.
