Sporting Kansas City will kick off the club's 2023 Major League Soccer campaign at 9:00 p.m. CT on Monday with a road trip to face the Portland Timbers at Providence Park . The team's 28th season begins with the earliest regular season match in club history as Sporting looks for a strong start after going 6-2-2 in the club's final 10 games of the 2022 season. The team's 15 season-opening wins and 10 victories in road openers are most all-time in MLS history.
The Western Conference clash will kick off at 9:09 p.m. CT and will stream free on the Apple TV app in both English and Spanish with pre-match programming starting at 8:30 p.m. CT. Radio coverage will air locally on Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.
SEASON KICKOFF WATCH PARTY ON SATURDAY
Sporting Kansas City’s Season Kickoff event on Saturday at Chicken N Pickle (5901 W. 135th St.) in Overland Park, Kan. will remain scheduled from 6-8 p.m. CT for Season Ticket Members who have already reserved a ticket. The event will end at 8 p.m. CT and will not be open to the general public. All fans who reserved a ticket via SeatGeek for the watch party at Chicken N Pickle from 8-11:30 p.m. will receive information from the club.

On Friday evening, Sporting KC is hosting free pick-up soccer games for local players ages 18 and older starting at 6:30 p.m. at Central Bank Sporting Complex in Kansas City. Attendees can RSVP online and attendees will be entered to win Sporting KC giveaways and prizes at the event.

With the 2023 MLS regular season beginning on Saturday, Friday will serve as the MLS Roster Compliance date for all 29 clubs. By 7 p.m. CT on the eve of MLS is Back, teams must be fully compliant with the league's roster rules and regulations.
