Major League Soccer's two-week break ends this week as Western Conference leaders Sporting Kansas City (8-4-8, 32 points) return to action Saturday against rivals Real Salt Lake (6-12-2, 20 points) at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CT with three hours of live coverage beginning at 8:30 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City Plus, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO. The match will also be joined live in progress on FOX Sports Kansas City after the Kansas City Royals postgame show (approximately 9:30 p.m. CT). Listeners can follow the action live on La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish) and in progress on Sports Radio 810 WHB following the Royals game. The Final Whistle postgame show will air at 11 p.m. CT on 810 WHB.
All supporters are welcome to attend the official watch party for Saturday's match at No Other Pub in the Kansas City Power & Light District (1370 Grand Blvd.). Beginning at 8:30 p.m., No Other Pub will offer $5 Boulevard drafts as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet with bottomless domestic beer and soda.
Single-game tickets for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinal between Sporting Kansas City and the San Jose Earthquakes will go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT via SeatGeek.com. The match at Children's Mercy Park will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT on Aug. 9 as Sporting KC continues its pursuit of a fourth U.S. Open Cup title.
Sporting Kansas City defenders Matt Besler and Graham Zusi remain with the U.S. Men's National Team this week for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Americans take the field Wednesday against El Salvador in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals, slated for 8 p.m. CT at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The match will air live on FS1, UniMas and UDN with a spot in Saturday's semifinals on the line. Dom Dwyer spent the previous three weeks with the U.S. MNT, scoring twice in three appearances, and has returned to Sporting KC this week. He will be available for Saturday's regular season match at Real Salt Lake.
A new episode of the Sporting KC Show will air at 7:15 p.m. CT Wednesday on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine will preview Sporting KC's road test at Real Salt Lake and provide a lead-in to Wednesday's CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal between the United States and El Salvador.
The Swope Park Rangers (11-4-2, 35 points) defeated Portland Timbers 2 by a 1-0 scoreline on Sunday, extending their club-record winning streak to six straight regular season matches. Currently third in the USL's Western Conference standings, SPR will conclude a three-game Pacific Northwest road trip with a visit to Seattle Sounders FC 2 (7-9-2, 23 points) on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. CT at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington. The match will stream live on SportingKC.com with in-game updates available through the club’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels.
Sporting Kansas City will host the next King of the Court futsal tournament on Saturday at Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas (2501 Minnesota Ave.). The interactive event features 4-v-4 matches for players ages 8 and up as well as a block party complete with music, yard games, skills challenges, bounce houses and Sporting KC player appearances and autograph sessions.
