Sporting Kansas City (8-3-2, 26 points) vaulted atop the Supporters' Shield standings with a hard-fought 2-0 road win over the LA Galaxy (7-4-0, 21 points) on Sunday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. Manager Peter Vermes' side is off this week and will return to action July 21 when the San Jose Earthquakes (3-7-2, 11 points) visit Children's Mercy Park at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Concacaf Gold Cup will take center stage this weekend as Sporting Kansas City midfielder Gianluca Busio and forward Alan Pulido join their respective national teams for the prestigious tournament.

Busio and the United States will kick off their Group B campaign Sunday against Haiti or Bermuda in an 8 p.m. CT showdown at Children's Mercy Park. The highly anticipated contest will serve as the nightcap of a doubleheader at the world-class stadium, with Canada and Martinique set to meet at 5:30 p.m. CT. Children's Mercy Park will host a total of five Group B matches from July 11-18 with tickets starting at $45 via SeatGeek.com and three-day passes also available. Sunday's doubleheader will be shown live nationally on FS1, the FOX Sports app, TUDN and Univision.

Pulido and Mexico will begin Group A competition Saturday against Trinidad and Tobago or French Guiana at 9 p.m. CT inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with live coverage on FS1, the FOX Sports app, TUDN and Univision. This weekend's opponents for the U.S. and Mexico will be determined tonight as the Gold Cup's preliminary round concludes.

A new episode of the Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut tonight at 7 p.m. CT on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Aly Trost and Conall McCourt will recap Sunday's win over LA, preview the Concacaf Gold Cup and discuss an exciting week of international soccer. Major League Soccer's Secondary Transfer Window, the second of two periods on the calendar in which teams can register new players via international transfers or intra-league trades, will officially open on Wednesday. The Secondary Transfer Window, which runs through Aug. 5, will be the last chance for MLS teams to complete incoming transfers and trades for the 2021 season.

Guests of all ages are invited to an all-new gaming experience on Friday and Saturday as Children's Mercy Park hosts Unified Esports Festival Kansas City. The two-day, action-packed adventure is suitable for all levels of gamers and registration is now open with all-access general admission tickets available at only $30.

Sporting Kansas City II (2-7-4, 10 points) will resume their 2021 USL Championship campaign on Saturday, visiting Atlanta United 2 (3-4-4, 13 points) in a 6:30 p.m. CT matchup at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia. Supporters can watch the game live on ESPN Plus.

Newly signed Sporting Kansas City II forward Jamil Roberts is a finalist for Best Play at the 2021 ESPYS, which will be televised nationally at 7 p.m. CT Saturday on ABC. Roberts' game-winning overtime goal for Marshall University in the 2021 NCAA National Championship on May 17 is one of four epic moments nominated for the award.
