Sporting Kansas City (3-5-7, 16 points) will resume their MLS regular season campaign on Sunday, visiting Columbus Crew SC (5-9-2, 17 points) in an interconference clash at MAPFRE Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. CT with three hours of live coverage beginning at 4 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Kansas City Plus, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO. Local radio broadcasts will also air live on Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM, with The Final Whistle postgame show immediately following on 810 WHB.
After Sporting and Columbus exit the pitch on Sunday night, a Special Olympics Unified Soccer exchange game between Special Olympics Sporting Kansas City and Special Olympics Columbus will take place. Sporting and Columbus are among the several MLS clubs connecting with local Special Olympics chapters to host exchange games in their venues, giving athletes with intellectual disabilities a unique opportunity to shine under the stadium lights.
A new episode of The Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday on Sports Radio 810 WHB. Hosts Nate Bukaty and Carter Augustine will hear from a Sporting KC guest, preview Sunday's match in Columbus and hit all the storylines from the ongoing Women's World Cup and Concacaf Gold Cup.
Sporting Kansas City and The Victory Project have partnered with The Whole Person to host the Soccer For All Abilities Clinic from 5-7:30 p.m. CT Thursday at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri (6310 Lewis Rd.). The sixth annual Abilities Clinic will see select Sporting players teach soccer basics to athletes with physical, developmental and cognitive disabilities. Afterward, players will sign autographs and take photos with all youth participants in attendance.
Sporting Kansas City has partnered with the Kansas City 2026 FIFA World Cup Bid and the Kansas City Power & Light District to host free Women’s World Cup watch parties at the KC Live! Block and No Other Pub (1370 Grand Blvd., Kansas City, MO). The reigning World Cup champion United States Women's National Team will continue their pursuit of a second straight title on Thursday, meeting Sweden at 2 p.m. CT in Le Havre, France. KC Live!, the 25,000-square-foot entertainment block in Kansas City's Power & Light District, is the area’s premier destination for all USA matches. Game broadcasts will be shown live on the theater-sized screen and match commentary will play throughout the venue.
The Swope Park Rangers (1-8-5, 8 points) will conclude a two-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to face the Charleston Battery (5-3-6, 21 points) at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina. The Eastern Conference clash will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and stream live on ESPN+.
The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-19s and U-17s will take the field this week for the 2019 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs at SoCal Sports Complex in Oceanside, California. The tournament's group stage kicks off today and concludes Saturday, consisting of a three-game round-robin, and will send every first-place finisher to the Development Academy quarterfinals on June 24-25. The Sporting KC U-15s will also be competing at SoCal Sports Complex in the U-15 Development Academy Summer Showcase. Players of all ages are invited to join Sporting for the club's annual King of the Court Futsal Tournament series presented by Raising Canes. Registration is now open at SportingKC.com for the next tournament on Saturday at Westheight Park in Kansas City, Kansas (1774 N. 20th St.). The family-friendly event is free of charge and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT. Tournaments will be split into two age groups (13 and under, 14 and over) and the winning teams will qualify for a final playoff at Children’s Mercy Park, taking place before a Sporting home game later this summer.
