Sporting Kansas City will play two games in four days this week starting with Tuesday night's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against the Portland Timbers. Sporting KC advanced to the fifth round of the annual domestic tournament by defeating Minnesota United FC 2-0 last Wednesday at Sporting Park. Portland defeated the Orlando City U-23s 3-0 last week in their tournament opener.

Sporting KC are two-time Open Cup champions, having won the tournament in 2004 and 2012. The winner of the U.S. Open Cup will receive $250,000 and a berth in the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League. Tickets for this week's match start as low as $14 and are available via Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.

Following Tuesday night's match, Sporting KC will fly to Portland as Major League Soccer resumes play after a two-week break for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Sporting KC will play the Timbers Friday night at Providence Park at 10 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on KMCI-TV 38 the Spot as well as Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Gran D 1340.

Portland are one of the hottest teams in Major League Soccer with only one loss in their previous nine matches. The team is currently in sixth place in the Western Conference with 20 points through 16 games.

The U.S. Men's National Team - featuring Sporting KC's Matt Besler and Graham Zusi - will play their final 2014 FIFA World Cup group stage match on Thursday when they travel to Recife, Brazil to play Germany. With a win or a draw, the USMNT will clinch a berth in the Round of 16 for the second consecutive tournament. Thursday's highly anticipated match will kick off at 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN and Univision.

Sporting Kansas City will host an official watch party for the match - and all matches at the 2014 FIFA World Cup - at the Kansas City Power & Light District as part of Summer in the Soccer Capital, presented by The Sprint Framily Plan. Admission to Kansas City's official 2014 FIFA World Cup watch parties is free for all ages. Food and drink specials will be available, as well as limited edition "For Club and Country" merchandise.

Additionally, tickets are available for a private party at Mosaic for all U.S. Men's National Team matches. For $20 per game, fans ages 21 and up will receive four domestic beers and admittance to the VIP venue featuring access to a private cash bar, air conditioning, indoor/outdoor viewing space with televisions and projectors, and an exclusive viewing area overlooking the KC Live! Block.

The team will train at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the Swope Soccer Village (6310 Lewis Rd.) in Kansas City, MO and Thursday in Portland. Media are permitted to attend training sessions for photo, video and interview opportunities.

On Friday at 10 a.m., tickets will go on sale for Buzz Beach Ball at Sporting Park. Tickets for the September 5 show start as low as $30 and will be available at Ticketmaster.com. Buzz Beach Ball acts include Arctic Monkeys, Weezer and The 1975. For more information, visit www.BeachBallKC.com.
