On the heels of a momentous 3-1 road win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC last weekend, Sporting Kansas City (1-0-0, 3 points) will return to world-class Children's Mercy Park on Saturday for the club's long-awaited and highly anticipated home opener against rivals Houston Dynamo (0-0-1, 1 point) at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tickets for the contest are available at SeatGeek.com and the first 10,000 fans through the stadium gates will receive a free rally towel courtesy of match sponsor UMB Bank.
FOX Sports Kansas City, FOX Sports Midwest Plus and FOX Sports GO will provide three hours of live coverage on Saturday night—including 30-minute pre-match and post-match shows—starting at 7 p.m. CT, while listeners can catch the action on Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish). The Final Whistle postgame show will also air live on 810 WHB immediately afterward as Sporting opens a 17-game home slate in its 10th season at Children's Mercy Park.
A new episode of the Sporting KC Show Podcast will debut at 7 p.m. CT Tuesday on Sports Radio 810 WHB as hosts Nate Bukaty, Jacob Peterson and Carter Augustine recap Saturday's win in Vancouver and preview this weekend's home opener against Houston. The Sporting KC Show Podcast is available on Spotify and iTunes, giving supporters a weekly destination to catch up on club storylines, player achievements, guest interviews and more.
Sporting Kansas City defender Graham Zusi will participate in a Bar K Happy Hour at 6:30 p.m. CT on Thursday. Located at Berkley Riverfront Park in Kansas City, Missouri, Bar K is a unique restaurant and bar and surrounded by a two-acre dog park with play structures, comfortable seating areas and a dedicated staff of dog-care professionals. Zusi and his dog will be on hand as the seven-time MLS All-Star signs autographs and takes photos with fans in attendance.
In celebration of the club's highly anticipated home opener, Sporting has partnered with KCGameOn and Excelsior Springs Parks & Recreation to host a FIFA 20 Tournament at 6 p.m. CT on Friday at the Excelsior Springs Community Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Fans of all ages can register now and compete for the chance to win two tickets to Saturday's match.
At 10:45 p.m. CT on Sunday, a new episode of Sporting All-Access will debut on FOX 4 Kansas City. Sporting All-Access is a 15-minute program that will air every Sunday night throughout the season, providing special coverage of the club's 25th season as an MLS charter member.
Led by head coach and former Sporting midfielder Paulo Nagamura, Sporting Kansas City II will kick off their fifth USL Championship season on Sunday against the Charlotte Independence at Children's Mercy Park. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT and tickets are available at SeatGeek.com or at the stadium box office beginning 90 minutes before kickoff. The Eastern conference encounter will also stream live on ESPN Plus with additional in-game updates on Twitter at @SportingKCII.
Lastly, the Sporting Kansas City Academy U-15s, U-17s and U-19s will continue their U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular seasons this weekend. The U-15s and U-17s will travel south to face the Dallas Texans in a Saturday doubleheader at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. CT, while the U-19s will host Saint Louis FC at noon CT on Sunday at Swope Soccer Village.
