Sporting Kansas City enters the final week of the 2014 MLS regular season with a postseason berth secured yet plenty to play for in two major matches over a four-day span.
The reigning MLS Cup champions will travel to Costa Rica for their 2014/15 CONCACAF Champions League group stage finale against Deportivo Saprissa at 9 p.m. CT on Thursday at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa. Sporting KC (2-0-1, 7 points) holds a three-point lead over Saprissa (1-1-1, 4 points) in Group 2 and the outcome will determine which team advances to the quarterfinal round. Thursday's match will be nationally televised on FOX Soccer Plus (English) and Univision Deportes Network (Spanish).
On Sunday, Sporting Kansas City (14-12-7, 49 points) will host the New York Red Bulls (12-10-11, 47 points) in the final match of the 2014 MLS regular season at 7:30 p.m. CT at Sporting Park live on ESPN2. The teams are separated by two points and each could finish as the third, fourth or fifth seed in the Eastern Conference pending the result. A limited number of tickets are available online at Ticketmaster.com for the match, sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
Season Ticket Members will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase additional three-game playoff ticket package(s) beginning at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday and continuing through 10 a.m. CT on Oct. 27 (subject to availability). Additional package(s) will be located within any available seating category and can be purchased at the Season Ticket Member Playoff discounted price.
