JAKE REID NAMED SPORTING KC PRESIDENT
Sporting KC has named Jake Reid as the club’s new president, the organization announced on Monday. Over the last six seasons, Reid has played a pivotal role in guiding an MLS organization that ranked last in nearly every financial measure upon his 2010 arrival to one that is now among league leaders for season ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and merchandise/concession revenue. SPORTING KC SIGNS PORTUGUESE DEFENDER NUNO ANDRE COELHO
Sporting KC has signed Portuguese defender Nuno André Coelho, the club announced on Tuesday. The center back has played more than 160 matches during a 12-year professional career in Europe, including seven appearances in the UEFA Champions League with Portuguese clubs SC Braga and FC Porto. BESLER AND THE U.S. TO FACE ICELAND ON SUNDAY
Sporting KC captain Matt Besler and the United States Men's National Team will meet Iceland for an international friendly on Sunday at StubHub Center in Carson, California. The match is set to kick off at 2:45 p.m. CT with national television coverage on ESPN2, UniMas and Univision Deportes. It will be the Americans' first match of 2016 as Jurgen Klinsmann's side begins preparation for two 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March and the 2016 Centennial Copa America.
MARCEL DE JONG SELECTED TO CANADA MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Sporting KC defender Marcel de Jong was named to the Canada Men’s National Team last Friday ahead of an international friendly against the United States on Feb. 5 at StubHub Center in Carson, California. De Jong will join Canada’s 23-man squad on Monday for a two-week training camp as the Reds prepare to face the U.S., which features Sporting KC defender Matt Besler in its 26-player roster. SWOPE PARK RANGERS ANNOUNCE 2016 USL SCHEDULE
