Sporting Kansas City center back Matt Besler made his customary appearance on The Border Patrol with Sports Radio 810 WHB hosts Nate Bukaty and Steven St. John on Wednesday morning.
As St. John was quick to point out, Besler recently lined up alongside Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes to film a commercial in support of #KC2026, the official campaign to help bring the 2026 FIFA World Cup to Kansas City. The Sporting captain and Chiefs star joined Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez in driving fans to KC2026.com to volunteer, donate and sign the online petition to strengthen Kansas City's World Cup bid.
Besler also reflected on a workmanlike 1-0 home victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday. Sporting could have won by a greater margin had luck been on their side, Besler said, but the result was nonetheless massive in bolstering Sporting's push to vault back into playoff positioning.
