Swope Park Rangers forward Hadji Barry was named to the 2018 USL All-League Second Team on Monday, the United Soccer League announced. The All-League Teams were voted on by team management and a league-wide media panel that included representation from every USL market.
Barry, the Swope Park Rangers Team MVP in 2018, led the squad in scoring with a career-high 19 goals this season, fourth most in the USL and a new single-season club record. The 25-year-old scored in 11 of the club's last 12 games as he broke a USL record by recording goals in eight straight matches between Aug. 19 and Sept. 22.
In his first season with the Rangers after arriving in Kansas City from Orlando City SC where he was a first round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, Barry also finished second on the SPR squad with five assists and 45 chances created in 2018.
A native of Guinea, Barry received his U.S. citizenship last month and he becomes the second SPR player to receive USL All-League honors in the team's three-year history. In 2016, SPR defender Amer Didic was selected to the USL All-League First Team.
On Tuesday, the United Soccer League will announce the 2018 USL Awards finalists ahead of the 2018 USL Cup at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday between Phoenix Rising FC and Louisville City FC live on ESPN2.
