Sporting Kansas City holds the No. 14 pick in this year's MLS SuperDraft. While the depth of each draft has waned in recent years due to more college players signing homegrown deals, there is still talent to be had in the second half of the first round. Here are the top three No. 14 picks in MLS history:
3. Axel Sjoberg - 2015 Colorado Rapids
His career is only two years old, but Sjoberg burst on to the scene last year as one of the top center backs in Major League Soccer. His strong, physical presence led a Rapids backline that allowed a league-best 32 goals last year. The 6-7 Swede was a MLS Defender of the Year Finalist in 2016 as well as a Best XI honoree.
2. Ned Grabavoy - 2004 LA Galaxy
Grabavoy retired from professional soccer last month after a career that spanned 13 years with six different teams. The Illinois native won two MLS Cup titles (2005 and 2009) and was part of the Real Salt Lake team that lost to Sporting KC in the 2013 MLS Cup Final. Grabavoy finished his career with 301 regular season games played, 17 goals and 31 assists.
1. Shalrie Joseph - 2003 New England Revolution
One of the most consistent players in MLS history, Joseph was a key cog to a Revolution team that went to four MLS Cups between 2002-2007, won the 2007 U.S. Open Cup and the 2008 SuperLiga. Joseph finished his career with 283 regular season appearances and a combined 75 goals and assists.
