The Swope Park Rangers continued their preseason slate with a 1-1 draw versus Creighton University on Saturday afternoon at Swope Soccer Village.
In the 10th minute, Hadji Barry took a shot on goal, but Creighton’s goalie was there to deter the ball from finding the back of the net.
Creighton quickly answered back with a cross from outside the box in the 15th minute. Swope Park Rangers goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod was able to make the save and keep the match scoreless.
Barry took another great shot on goal in the 21st minute, but was denied again by Creighton’s goaltender.
In the 37th minute, Creighton had an opportunity to score from a corner kick, but the header went straight into MacLeod’s arms.
The Swope Park Rangers took the lead in the 39th minute when Dakota Barnathan found the back of the net with a header. Sporting KC Academy product Will Little picked up the assist with a brilliant cross.
The Blue Jays came into the second half ready to even the score. Creighton took a shot in the 49th minute, but MacLeod was there again. However, Creighton was able to find the net and even in the score in the 57th minute.
There were a few more chances for the Rangers in the remainder of the match including a header from Matt Lewis in the 66th minute, but no shots found their target.
After a close shot that skimmed the crossbar for Creighton, the score stood at 1-1 as the Swope Park Rangers concluded their third preseason game.
The Rangers will return home for their final preseason game on March 10 after a two-game road stent in Indiana when they face off against UMKC at 2 p.m. CT at Swope Soccer Village.
