Tim Melia and John Pulskamp up for 2022 MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate

Sporting Kansas City goalkeepers Tim Melia and John Pulskamp are among 16 candidates for the 2022 MLS Save of the Year presented by Allstate. Voting to determine the award winner is open until Friday online at MLSsoccer.com or on the MLS App.

Major League Soccer has awarded a Save of the Year annually since 2009 and Melia has now been nominated in five of the past six seasons. This year, Melia is a candidate after producing three saves in a 15-second span against the Seattle Sounders on June 25. On a day in which the former MLS Goalkeeper of the Year recorded a season-high five saves, Melia was at his best in the 80th minute to spurn U.S. Men's National Team forward Jordan Morris before denying former teammate Jimmy Medranda and Seattle striker Fredy Montero in short succession.

Pulskamp made 16 appearances for Sporting KC in all competitions this season, highlighted by a sensational double save in a 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers on Aug. 21 at Children's Mercy Park. The 21-year-old goalkeeper raced off his line to prevent Yimma Chara from scoring in the 47th minute then recovered quickly to push Sebastian Blanco's long-range effort over the bar.
