Sporting KC Uphoria users have more than a few things to be excited about as Thursday’s home match against the Philadelphia Union approaches.
First and foremost, download Sporting KC Uphoria on the App Store or Google Play and register a free account if you haven’t done so already. After all, that’s the only way you’ll be able to enjoy the wide variety of perks that Uphoria has to offer.
That brings us to Thursday’s match, which will feature a Local Night theme throughout the evening. That consists of food trucks from a variety of KC establishments on the Sporting Plaza before kickoff, live music from KC musicians, a limited-edition Plaza-themed scarf at SportingStyle, an "I Believe" pregame chant led by surprise guests…and a Local Night photo overlay on Uphoria’s MySKC Cam.
MySKC Cam is located within the “Sporting KC” tab on Uphoria, giving fans the opportunity to share photos on social networks and even appear on the Children’s Mercy Park videoboard. After taking a photo, click “Send to Sporting KC” and your image will enter a queue to appear in the stadium. MySKC Cam will give users five different overlays to choose from, including another new filter that tributes the immortalized movie quote from Will Ferrell’s “Step Brothers.”
Several hours before kickoff on Thursday, Uphoria users will also receive an offer card for free Chips Ahoy cookies at Kansas City-area Price Chopper locations. Offer cards are a lot like Groupons and just as easy to use: simply visit your local Price Chopper, show the offer to the cashier at checkout and enjoy your free box of Chips Ahoy. Offers will appear in the "Alerts" tab on matchday.
Finally, all fans will be able to put their Sporting KC trivia to the test Thursday morning for a chance to win two tickets to that evening’s match. The trivia question, which will be deployed with a push notification to Uphoria users’ smartphones, will revolve around Sporting Kansas City’s head-to-head history with the Union, and all correct respondents will be entered as a potential winner.
Additional features of Sporting KC Uphoria allow fans to track in-game statistics live, receive breaking news and lineup information, and use the app as their ticket into the match with convenient SeatGeek integration.
