The 2019 Victory Gala and Sporting Invitational have collectively raised more than $590,000 for The Victory Project in its mission to help children battling cancer.
Held on Aug. 23 at the historic Muehlebach Hotel in downtown Kansas City, the Victory Gala featured silent and live auctions for luxury trips and VIP experiences plus appearances from Sporting Kansas City players Gerso Fernandes, Andreu Fontas, Erik Hurtado, Daniel Salloi and Ilie Sanchez.
Popular cover tunes were performed throughout the night by premier party band Lost Wax and all guests were treated to an all-inclusive dinner. Adrienne Poindexter, a Victory Suite honoree at a Sporting KC home match in 2017, was also in attendance with her family to speak about The Victory Project's remarkable impact on her life.
Tremendous contributions from more than 600 Victory Gala guests will assist The Victory Project in primary endeavors such as Sporting Wishes, a program that identifies children who receive a secondary cancer diagnosis or relapse and grants them a special wish.
The Victory Gala as a precursor to the 2019 Sporting Invitational, which took place Sept. 9 at Loch Lloyd Golf Course. The event saw participants play the 18-hole Tom Watson Signature Design golf course alongside Sporting Kansas City players and executives while competing in numerous contests throughout the course.
