35 yards. Five seconds. Best of five. The old Major League Soccer penalty shootout rules might have been odd, but boy were they entertaining. MLSsoccer.com released a tribute this week to the old shootout featuring one of the craziest shootouts of all-time, a 16-round thriller between the KC Wiz and San Jose Clash in 1996. It also features a spry Peter Vermes, calmly chipping a goalkeeper during a shootout as a member of the New York / New Jersey MetroStars.
