Sporting Kansas City forward Willy Agada was named to the bench of the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi on Sunday as one of the top 20 players in Major League Soccer for Matchday 28 of the regular season.
Agada scored the crucial equalizer for Sporting during Saturday night's 1-1 draw with cross-state rivals St. Louis at Children's Mercy Park, leaping above the visiting backline to crash home Alan Pulido's pin-point delivery in the 73rd minute.
The 24-year-old frontman has been in fine form of late, as yesterday's goal marked his fifth in his last five games. Agada leads the team with 10 goals across all competitions in 2024 and nine in MLS regular-season action.
Agada, who now has a goal contribution (two goals and one assist) in each of his three regular season appearances against St. Louis, now has 17 goals in 17 regular season home starts at Children’s Mercy Park since joining Sporting midway through the 2022 campaign.
Sporting are back in action this Sunday, July 28 when the team kicks off Leagues Cup 2024 action with a home clash against Chicago Fire FC at Children's Mercy Park in West Region Group 4 play.
