U.S. Men's National Team captain Clint Dempsey (539 minutes played) and Nemeth (378 minutes played) were the only two MLS players with three goals and two or more assists in May. Nemeth also contributed three goals in April, including a 94th-minute game-winner at Sporting Park for his first MLS goal.
“I’d be hard pressed to find any striker as good as him in our league right now,” Benny Feilhaber told SBIsoccer.com after Sporting KC’s 4-0 win over FC Dallas last Friday.
Nemeth joined the Hungary Men's National Team this week for two upcoming international matches. Hungary, No. 43 in the FIFA rankings, will play Lithuania at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday in preparation for their UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier versus Finland on June 13.
Nemeth is one of eight Sporting Kansas City players on the fan ballot for the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. Votes are counted through July 3 via an online ballot, as well as social media posts and goals scored with eligible forwards in EA SPORTS FIFA 15.
Today's recognition is the second straight MLS Player of the Month honor for a member of Sporting Kansas City. Feilhaber, who has tied his MLS career highs with four goals and seven assists in 2015, earned the accolade in April.
