Swope Park Rangers defender Jacob VanCompernolle has been named to the USL Team of the Week after a dominant performance at center back in the Rangers’ 2-1 win over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday night.
VanCompernolle marshaled a defense that only allowed three shots on target all game as SPR claimed their second consecutive win to open the season. The 22-year-old is the second Rangers player to receive Team of the Week recognition this season, after Kevin Oliveira earned the same honor last week.
VanCompernolle, a Dallas, Texas native, will return to his home state this weekend as the Rangers take on San Antonio FC in their home opener on Saturday, April 9. Kickoff for that game is set for 7:30 p.m. CT while a live stream will be available on SportingKC.com.
