Thoughts on the match...
"There was a lot of good stuff on the field, especially going forward. We created a ton of really good opportunities in the attacking third — great buildup in a lot of situations, which is what we've been working on this last week. We actually played pretty well. I was pretty happy with the way we played."
On Graham and Benny returning to Sporting KC after January Camp...
"It was good that they got down here just to be a part of the group. I wanted to give them a few days [off]. They have been going a lot earlier than we have. I wanted to give them a little bit of a break so they can get themselves in a position so when we return back here on Sunday, they are gonna be full force with us. I think that was the important thing for us to get done."
On Matt Besler making his preseason debut today...
"He is looking very good. I just want to smart. I only played him 30 minutes and didn’t want to push him 45. The good thing is both him and Dom [Dwyer] are pain free in their ankles, which is a really important aspect."
On Dom Dwyer's health...
"When we come back here, he will probably be back in full training. We had to take a little more time with him because he was returning a little later than Besler was. We just wanted to make sure his whole body was getting to where it needed to be."
On how Gerso Fernandes is integrating into the team...
"The unfortunate thing is the one game he played against San Jose, he got stepped on - on his toe - and his toenail separated from all the way down below and he had a ton of blood down there. So for three days, he couldn’t do anything. But he’s getting there. We have time and we have to use that time wisely. I’m not gonna be impatient with it because it’s going to take some time to get him where he needs to be."
On if additional moves are coming…
"It never changes. We are always looking."
On Benny Feilhaber's performance with national team…
"I thought he was really good. It’s not a foreign level for Benny. We knew he could play there. He just needed his chance and got it and I thought he did really well with it."
On Jimmy Medranda playing midfield during preseason...
"I’ve said this many times. Jimmy can play multiple positions and he’s been very good so far. He’s played well at midfield, he can also play wide as a winger. You know he can play left back as well. That’s something we’ve been working on with him."
On how a younger team is integrating into the system...
"We are younger, for sure, but we have also added some dangerous attacking players. It will be interesting to see how they all fit in. Sometimes with youth, there can be a little bit of growing pains. There is also an incredible hunger within the group so that part is tremendous. I think all the guys that we added are guys that fit into the way we play."
