Sporting Kansas City announced Sunday that the club has acquired forward Kenwyne Jones, goalkeeper Alexander Tambakis and a natural fourth-round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft in a trade with Atlanta United FC.
In exchange, Atlanta United FC acquires midfielder Kevin Oliveira, defender Tyler Pasher and Sporting KC’s natural second-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft (No. 36 overall).
Oliveira and Pasher spent most of the 2017 campaign with USL affiliate Swope Park Rangers. Oliveira played four matches for Sporting KC in all competitions, while Pasher made his lone MLS appearance in May.
Sunday’s transaction between Sporting KC and Atlanta takes place during Major League Soccer’s half-day trade window.
Later this afternoon, MLS will announce the protected player lists ahead of Tuesday’s MLS Expansion Draft. Each club can protect 11 players from its 2017 roster. Los Angeles FC will select up to five players from the eligible MLS player pool during the draft, which will begin at 1 p.m. CT. Only a single player can be drafted from any one club.
