Sporting Kansas City passed on its pick in the 2017 MLS Waiver Draft on Wednesday.
Twenty-one of 23 MLS clubs elected to pass during the Waiver Draft, which consisted of players who had been waived by their teams but didn’t meet the minimum years of service requirement for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency.
The Colorado Rapids selected defender Kip Colvey, while the Montreal Impact picked goalkeeper Clement Diop. Players not selected are now free to sign with the team of their choice.
Sporting Kansas City currently has 24 players under contract for the 2018 season:
Goalkeepers (3): Andrew Dykstra, Tim Melia, Adrian Zendejas
Defenders (9): Saad Abdul-Salaam, Matt Besler, Amer Didic, Kevin Ellis, Jaylin Lindsey, Ike Opara, Seth Sinovic, Colton Storm, Graham Zusi
Midfielders (6): Roger Espinoza, Benny Feilhaber, Ilie, Cristian Lobato, Jimmy Medranda, James Musa
Forwards (6): Kharlton Belmar, Gianluca Busio, Gerso, Diego Rubio, Soony Saad, Daniel Salloi
