Sporting Kansas City will celebrate the start of the team's 2019 season with a Block Party from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT on the north side of Town Center Plaza in Leawood, Kansas (5000 W. 119th St.) on Saturday, March 2.
The family-friendly event will be free and open to the public, featuring a special appearance by a Sporting KC player and Blue the mascot, as well as yard games and music from an on-site DJ. Youth attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in 20-minute Sporting Stripes (2-5 year olds) and Sporting Stars (5-8 year olds) classes, which will be begin at 10 a.m. and end at noon on the futsal court. The third-annual event will take place one day before Sporting Kansas City kicks off the MLS regular season with a nationally-televised showdown against Los Angeles FC at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 3 at Banc of California Stadium live on ESPN.
