Midfielder Roger Espinoza and defender Graham Zusi joined forwards Gerso Fernandes and Krisztian Nemeth among Concacaf's best performers in the second-leg stage of the quarterfinals.
Sporting has advanced to the Concacaf Champions League Semifinals for the first time in club history, claiming a 4-2 aggregate victory over the Panamanian outfit after dropping the first leg 2-1 last week on the road. Thursday's comeback was sparked by a Krisztian Nemeth brace and an Espinoza strike, while Gerso recorded an assist and Zusi played an important role in limiting Independiente to just five shot attempts.

Sporting will visit Monterrey for the first leg at Estadio BBVA Bancomer between April 2-4 before hosting the Mexican side in the decisive return fixture the following week.
