After spending 2019 in Germany, forward Khiry Shelton is back for Round 2 with Sporting Kansas City.
Shelton played an integral role for Sporting in 2018, helping the club to a first-place finish in the Western Conference and a playoff run that ended just short of an MLS Cup appearance. He then ventured abroad for a 12-month stint with German side SC Paderborn 07, where he experienced promotion from the second division to the top-flight Bundesliga.
In the newest episode of The Nutmeg Podcast on 610 Sports Radio, host Josh Klingler asks Shelton about his decision to swap Sporting for Paderborn and then return to Kansas City, his unique experience in Germany, how he has improved as a player, his upbringing in a military family and his early impressions of the 2020 preseason campaign.
