Sporting Kansas City fans may be deprived of MLS matches for the time being, but during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they've been reacquainted with legendary goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen.
A heralded goalkeeper who captained Sporting from 2010-2013, Nielsen recently joined Carter Augustine for the debut episode of "For the Cheers" presented by Michelob Ultra before joining current captain Matt Besler for a second-screen commentary of the 2013 MLS Cup on FOX Sports Kansas City. The Danish-born fan favorite, nicknamed "White Puma," provided heroics in shootouts that decided the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and 2013 MLS Cup.
In his latest media appearance, Nielsen joined The Nutmeg Podcast host Josh Klingler to reflect on recent coaching stints in the USL Championship and his decision to move back to Kansas City this spring.
