As Major League Soccer grows, so does the annual crop of influential transfers from abroad. The 2020 campaign was no exception, as MLS welcomed a slew of outstanding newcomers over the course of the year.
MLSsoccer.com contributor Greg Seltzer released his list of the top 10 inbound transfers of the 2020 MLS season on Tuesday, tabbing Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido at No. 6.
The fact that Pulido earned such a high ranking despite playing only half of Sporting's available minutes speaks volumes about his contributions on the pitch. Injuries, international duty and a shortened fixture list limited Pulido to only 14 appearances in all competitions, but he made the most of his time on the field by leading the team in both goals (seven) and assists (five).
At the end of the season, Pulido was one of three finalists for the MLS Newcomer of the Year award and landed Sporting KC Offensive Player of the Year accolades as one of the best attackers in the league.
Pulido, 29, arrived in Kansas City last December on a club-record transfer fee from Liga MX powerhouse Chivas de Guadalajara. Given how his first MLS campaign unfolded, the future is certainly bright for the Mexican star and Sporting fans will be salivating at the thought of Pulido getting 30 or more games under his belt in 2021.
