The upstart Swope Park Rangers (5-16-7, 22 points) will put a two-game winning run and a three-match shutout streak on the line Wednesday night when they visit Loudoun United FC (6-15-6, 27 points) at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT with a live stream on ESPN Plus and additional in-game updates available via the USL Championship Match Center and @SwopeRangers on Twitter.
The midweek matchup comes four days after the Rangers secured their first road victory of the season with an emphatic 3-0 defeat of the Charlotte Independence. In-form striker Wilson Harris paced SPR with goals in either half, taking his total to eight on the season and moving into a tie atop the club scoring charts with Felipe Hernandez.
Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal rounded out Saturday's triumph with a late tally of his own and as the Rangers notched a third consecutive clean sheet and reaped the rewards of an excellent display from the aforementioned trio of Sporting KC Academy products. Eighteen-year-old goalkeeper John Pulskamp also starred between the posts, making six saves en route to his team-leading fourth win of the 2019 campaign.
Under the guidance of head coach Ryan Martin, Loudoun sit five points ahead of SPR in the Eastern Conference standings as both sides look destined to miss the USL Cup Playoffs. D.C. United’s affiliate club has lost three straight and six of eight, including a 5-2 decision at Bethlehem Steel FC last Wednesday in which Gordon Wild and Kyle Murphy found the back of the net for the visitors.
SPR and Loudoun previously met on June 5 at Children’s Mercy Park, with the visitors emerging victorious by a 3-2 scoreline thanks to strikes from Murphy, Griffin Yow and Connor Presley. Harris and Hernandez scored for SPR in the five-goal thriller.
