Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes
On his overall thoughts about the match...
Just a choppy game after some good stuff in Arizona. It was just a choppy game — too many situations where we lost possession, but it happens. And when it does, you end up having to do a lot of unnecessary running, which we did. But we scored two goals, gave up two. It was a decent outing. We just have to keep getting our feet underneath us.
On the second Sporting KC goal of the match…
It was a ball down the left side. We did well and we broke out well down the left. It all started with Daniel Salloi. We had a set piece and we put the ball down quickly and played him between the lines. He laid it back and we opened up the game and broke out down the left and had a good cross and finished on the back post. Pretty simple.
On Jon Kempin starting for the Swope Park Rangers tonight…
Right now there’s really nothing to discuss. We’re going to be moving players in and out and around. When we get through preseason we’ll obviously make some decisions, and when we do, you guys will know. But right now, there’s really nothing to talk about.
On the benefit of seeing more goalkeepers in action with the Swope Park Rangers also in Tucson…
It’s huge. It’s huge for the team. I saw one of the first maybe 30 minutes of the Swope Park Rangers game, and they came out on fire and they played well. They went through a little bit of a rough patch and gave up a goal right before halftime, and they went on to score two very good goals in the second half. So I’m happy for those guys — for playing their first game and winning. They did a great job.
On Daniel Salloi’s performance…
I thought Daniel played very well for us. Daniel was very, very good for us. He had good movement off the ball and really good decisions on the ball.
