Week 31 of the 2019 USL Championship regular season produced no shortage of offense, with more than 60 goals chalked up from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.
Arguably none were better than the deft back-heel flick from Swope Park Rangers striker and Sporting Kansas City Academy product Wilson Harris, a delicious piece of skill that ultimately vaulted SPR to a 3-1 win over Birmingham Legion FC last Monday at Children's Mercy Park.
Not too surprisingly, Harris' finish is one of five finalists for USL Championship Fans' Choice Goal of the Week. Voting will continue through 11 a.m. CT this Thursday, Oct. 10.
The 19-year-old Harris now has a team-best 11 goals this season, the most among teenage players in the 2019 USL Championship. With nine goals in his last 10 games, he is also one of five finalists for the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Player of the Month, marking the first time this season that a Rangers player has been up for the award.
SPR will take the field tonight at Children's Mercy Park when they host Ottawa Fury FC in the club’s final home match of the 2019 USL Championship campaign. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and tickets for the Eastern Conference clash are available at SeatGeek.com or at the stadium box office beginning at 5 p.m. CT on matchday.
Tonight's contest will stream live on ESPN Plus, while the USL Championship Match Center and @SwopeRangers on Twitter will provide additional in-game updates. Fans will also have the opportunity to win an exclusive prize prize package courtesy of Smile Generation—including an electric toothbrush plus an SPR scarf, beanie, bobblehead and more—by using the hashtag #RangersSmile on Twitter.
