Sporting Kansas City II left back Isaiah LeFlore has earned USL Championship Team of the Week honors after helping the club to a resounding 3-0 victory over rivals OKC Energy FC on Saturday at Children’s Mercy Park.
LeFlore, an 18-year-old Minnesota native, assisted fellow Sporting KC Academy product Ozzie Cisneros for the go-ahead goal in the 20th minute, delivering an inch-perfect cross from the left wing. He then unleashed a pinpoint pass over the top to Rojay Smith in the 72nd minute as Sporting KC II doubled their lead before adding a late third goal through Enoch Mushagalusa.
In addition to bagging his first two assists of the season, LeFlore produced comprehensive defensive displays over the course of two matches in Week 20—a narrow 1-0 loss to Memphis 901 FC on Wednesday and the runaway win against Energy FC on Saturday. Across the two games, LeFlore completed 109 of 124 passes at a clip of 87.9%, created three scoring chances, recorded nine interceptions and racked up 16 recoveries.
The Championship’s Player of the Week is selected by the USL National Media Panel, which is made up of representatives from each media market in the league.
LeFlore and Sporting KC II (4-13-7, 19 points) will play for a second straight win on Saturday when they travel to face Central Division rivals Indy Eleven (7-9-5, 26 points) at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis. The game will kick off at 6 p.m. CT and stream live on ESPN Plus.
