Sporting Kansas City II's 2025 Preseason presented by Central Bank resumed Wednesday evening after the previous two matches were suspended due to inclement weather. The group earned their first preseason win with a 3-2 triumph over Rockhurst University.
The friendly was split up into three 30-minute periods with SKC II jumping out to an early lead-off a skipping, long-range effort from Johann Ortiz in the 4th minute. First-team, Homegrown goalkeeper Jack Kortkamp made a massive save midway through the period before Rockhurst found the leveler off a corner in the 24th.
Neither side found a second in the second period. The 45th saw SKC II make their first two scheduled changes, bringing on Gael Quintero and Jacob Molinaro for Cielo Tschantret and Kortkamp. A shot to the head on Quintero brought an early end to his day as he was unable to continue.
The 60th-minute break saw SKC II head coach Istvan Urbanyi make a full change leaving Ortiz and Molinaro on the pitch. Returning forward Maouloune Goumballe wasted no time making an impact on the match, scoring the go-ahead goal in the 61st. Fellow returnee Medgy Alexandre then doubled the lead in the 83rd before Rockhurst halved the deficit with the final action of the match, ending the contest 3-2 in favor of SKC II.
The 2025 preseason continues on Saturday with the final friendly of the campaign. SKC II will host UMKC at Swope Soccer Village at 2 p.m. CT. Fans can follow everything happening with SKC II by following the club on X, Instagram and Facebook.
