SKC II Head Coach Benny Feilhaber
Thoughts on the current form of the team…
I’m just happy with the last three performances. We’ve had a lot of first-team guys in two out of the last three games and I think they’ve been fantastic in terms of their attitude and approach to the game. It shows not only in the results but just the performance. It’s been a good three weeks. Including that LAFC2 game on the road when we mostly had second-team guys, the team is starting to build consistency. We’re budling a style, not only of play but of how we want to be as a team. We want to be proactive; we want to high press and we want to make it tough for other teams to play against us. We have been highly competitive in these last three games.
On Ozzie Cisneros recent play…
Ozzie [Cisneros] has made a massive turnaround from last year to this year. He had some unfortunate injuries but just the player that he is now when he’s out there for us now is night and day from where he was last year. He’s made big, big strides. There’s a reason why he’s getting the minutes that he’s getting. He’s doing well for the team; he’s competing and he’s doing the things that we ask from a defensive perspective in terms of how he presses. He’s been joining back in the attack when the ball surpasses him and he’s creating things for us in the attacking half. He’s doing everything that I’ve asked, and I would expect him to continue his progress.
On Pau Vidal’s prolific goalscoring…
The only thing that’s left to say is what I asked him at the end of the game, when are you going to score two in one game? He’s getting his chances and the reason he’s getting those chances is he puts himself in those positions. He doesn’t have to change anything right now. He’s working his tail off from a defensive perspective. We all know and anyone who has been with this organization long enough knows that the nine needs to do that for us and he’s been doing it. He's a difficult person to defend in the box. He throws his body around and he’s willing to sacrifice his body to get on the end of things. Honestly, the only thing that’s missing is him getting multiple goals in one game because it is impressive the number of chances that he’s creating for himself.
SKC II Forward Pau Vidal
Thoughts on the match…
It was another really good match. We had so many opportunities and we should have won. But again, this is football. I’m really happy with the performance of the team. We will fight until the end and I’m glad that we won in penalties.
On his teammates setting him up for success…
I always try to talk with all of my teammates. I’m always to get into a great spot and I’m always telling them that if they can find me and pass me the ball I will try and score. We talk a lot and we continue to find the right spots and are taking advantage of our opportunities.
On his goal-scoring form…
As I said, it’s all about my teammates. They’re always finding me and always passing me the ball in the right spot. Without my teammates, I can’t score these goals.
On the first half of the season and goals for the rest of the season…
We think that we have done a good job this first half of the season. We are strong. We are a really good team. We are going to put our best foot forward and try to win every single game we play. We look like a great team and at the end of the year, we want to be on top.
