Sporting Kansas City II has signed forwards Fredinho Mompremier and Enoch Mushagalusa along with defender Sam Raben for the 2020 USL Championship season, the club announced today. The trio began preseason as trialists with Sporting II and will be added to the roster pending league and federation approval.
Mompremier, 23, spent the 2019 USL Championship season with FC Tulsa, starting nine of 20 appearances in his first season as a professional. After making his pro debut against Rio Grande Valley FC in late March 2019, he scored his first professional goal in a U.S. Open Cup Second Round clash against the Charlotte Independence, scoring the final goal in a 3-1 victory. He tallied one goal and one assist in USL Championship regular-season play, notching an assist in a loss to LA Galaxy II on July 24 before scoring a late game-winner in a thrilling 4-3 home victory over San Antonio FC on Sept. 25.
The Haiti native began his collegiate career at the University of Tampa, tallying 17 goals and five assists across 32 appearances in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Mompremier earned all sorts of accolades following a fruitful sophomore campaign where he tallied 13 goals and four assists, earning First-team all-Sunshine State Conference, First-team D2CCA All-South Region, Second-Team NSCAA All-South Region and D2CCA All-America honorable mention honors.
After two productive campaigns at Tampa, where he also played for the Long Island Rough Riders and FC Miami City in USL League Two, Mompremier transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson University. He tallied five goals and four assists across 24 appearances during his final two collegiate seasons before signing with FC Tulsa in early 2019. Internationally, Mompremier represented the Haiti Under-20 National Team.
Mushagalusa, 20, signs his first professional contract with Sporting KC II. The Congo-born, Denver-raised forward has been on trial with the club the past two preseasons, having also competed for Salt Lake Community College where he plundered home 27 goals and three assists in his sole season in Utah. Mushagalusa had committed to transfer to the University of South Carolina in 2020 prior to signing with Sporting II.
Mushagalusa was a longtime member of the Colorado Rapids Academy, tallying 53 goals in 85 USSDA appearances as he rose from the club’s Under-15 side to the Under-19s. His involvement with the Rapids wouldn’t end there as he spent the early portion of the 2019 preseason on trial with the MLS outfit.
Raben, 22, signed a Homegrown contract with the Colorado Rapids in early 2019 but did not make an MLS appearance. Instead, Raben went on loan to USL Championship side the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, making eight appearances – including his professional debut on the road against Phoenix Rising FC on March 30, 2019.
Collegiately, Raben stood out at Wake Forest University over a four-year career, finishing his stint third in program history with 91 appearances, with the team going 73-11-7 while he saw the field. Raben tallied six assists and helped the team to 46 clean sheets, helping the side reach the NCAA College Cup Final as a sophomore in 2016. During his senior season he was named third team All-ACC and third team All-South Region by United Soccer Coaches.
Raben was a member of the Colorado Rapids Academy and also represented the Colorado Rapids U-23s in USL League Two play during his college career.
