Sporting Kansas City II center back Aljaz Dzankic has undergone surgery to repair a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament suffered in the match against Houston Dynamo 2 on April 10 and is set to miss the remainder of the 2022 season, the club announced today.
Dzankic, 20, will miss the next 8-12 months as he goes through his rehabilitation. The Croatian youth international spent much of preseason with the Sporting KC first team and started the first three matches of the MLS NEXT Pro season for Sporting II before going down in the 11th minute of the team's home opener against Houston on April 10. Dzankic joined SKC II ahead of the 2021 season and made 14 appearances in the USL Championship last year.
Sporting KC II have opened the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro campaign with a 1-2-1 record. Tickets for Sporting KC II home matches, including each of the next six fixtures at state-of-the-art Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas, are available at SeatGeek.com.
