Sporting Kansas City II has signed Sporting KC Academy goalkeeper Gavin Krenecki to an Academy contract, the club announced today. Under the terms of the deal, Krenecki will retain his NCAA eligibility while being registered to compete in USL Championship matches for Sporting II.
Krenecki, 17, joined the Sporting KC Academy in January 2019 after moving to Kansas City from the Sacramento Republic Academy in his native California. The Fair Oaks native made 19 appearances while splitting his time between the Under-19s and Under-17s over the past year and a half.
Krenecki signed an Academy contract with Sporting II in late 2019 but did not make an appearance. He has committed to play collegiate soccer at the University of Louisville.
On the international stage, Krenecki has represented the U.S. at the Under-14 and Under-16 levels in the past.
