Sporting Kansas City II announced today that the club has signed 22-year-old midfielder Kian Alberto to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract.
Alberto joins Sporting KC II following a four-year collegiate career at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. The central midfielder tallied two goals and nine assists in 48 career appearances across four seasons from 2018-2021.
A native of Mendham, New Jersey, Alberto guided the Raiders to a Patriot League championship during his freshman campaign in 2018. He helped Colgate to a 1-0 win over Army in the conference title game as well as a 1-0 NCAA Tournament victory against New Hampshire before the raiders fell to national powerhouse Wake Forest.
Led by first-year head coach and former Sporting Kansas City great Benny Feilhaber, Sporting KC II (3-4-1, 10 points) will continue their MLS NEXT Pro campaign on Friday with a visit to San Jose Earthquakes II (3-3-1, 10 points). The contest will kick off at 8 p.m CT with live coverage on mlsnextpro.com. SKC II carries a two-match winning streak into Friday, having beaten North Texas SC and Real Monarchs at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas.
