Sporting Kansas City defeated Toronto FC 1-0 on Sunday at Children's Mercy Park to remain perfect during the 2016 MLS season. The club is 3-0-0 for the third time in club history and enters its first bye week atop Major League Soccer's Supporters' Shield standings.
Three Sporting Kansas City players have joined their respective national teams this week as 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying continues in the CONCACAF region. Matt Besler (United States), Roger Espinoza (Honduras) and Soni Mustivar (Haiti) could all be in action during FIFA's international window, with the United States, Honduras and Haiti each playing matches on Friday and March 29 in the semifinal round of CONCACAF qualifying.
The Swope Park Rangers will kick off their inaugural season in the United Soccer League on Saturday, hosting Portland Timbers 2 at Children's Mercy Park. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT and tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL. Saturday's historic match will also be streamed live on SportingKC.com.

The Sporting Kansas City Academy U-16s are in Frisco, Texas, this week for the 2016 Generation adidas Cup, an annual elite youth tournament for academy teams from the United States and abroad. Led by head coach Jon Parry, the U-16s have won their first two group stage matches in the tournament's Premier Division, beating the Portland Timbers on Friday and the New England Revolution on Sunday.
