The Swope Park Rangers have signed Sporting KC Academy goalkeeper Gavin Krenecki to an Academy contract, the club announced today. Krenecki will officially be added to the roster pending league and federation approval, while the Academy contract does not affect Krenecki’s NCAA eligibility.
Krenecki, 16, joined the Sporting KC Academy in January 2019 after moving to Kansas City from his native California. Since then, the Fair Oaks native has made 11 appearances while splitting his time between the Under-19s and Under-17s and has spent significant time training with the Rangers.
On the international stage, Krenecki – who was previously a member of the Sacramento Republic Academy – has represented the U.S. at the Under-14 and Under-16 levels in the past.
The Rangers (3-16-7) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 when the side hosts North Carolina FC at Children’s Mercy Park with kickoff set for 4 p.m. CT. All USL Championship games are streamed live on ESPN+, while tickets for home games are available via SeatGeek.com.
