Sporting Kansas City Homegrown midfielder Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal is now in contention for USL Goal of the Month after his stunning free kick for the Swope Park Rangers in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on August 29 at Children’s Mercy Park was awarded USL Goal of the Week on Thursday.
Kuzain stepped up to lash a swerving shot from the right side of the penalty area that deceived Tulsa goalkeeper Fabian Cerda, who initially stepped to his left before the ball knuckled and nestled into his right corner. That goal made the score 1-1 on the night before Hadji Barry eventually found a late winner. Kuzain’s free kick was named the No. 2 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 that night.
Voting for USL Goal of the Month is available online at USLsoccer.com and will continue through 12 p.m. ET on Monday, September 10. Kuzain's goal, which received 70 percent of vote for Goal of the Week, is one of 10 nominees out of the nearly 300 goals scored across the USL in the month of August.
