Sporting Kansas City will take the field tomorrow at Children’s Mercy Park for the first time in 140 days (TICKETS). And while the excitement of the home opener is enough for anyone to get to the stadium early, we’ve got a few additional reasons why you shouldn’t be late to Children’s Mercy Park tomorrow.
1. Pregame on the Plaza, presented by Bud Light
Join Sporting Kansas City and Bud Light tomorrow for special pregame festivities on the Sprint Plaza beginning at 5 p.m. We’ll have food trucks (Wilma’s, Indios, Carbonsitos and Twisted Asian), a smokehouse stand, gelato card, $4 Bud Lights and more. DJ Cutswell will provide the music and we’ll have interactive games available for both kids and adults.
2. Special pregame festivities in the bowl
If you come to every home game during the year, you know the drill. The chimes go off, a video plays, players are introduced and then they walk out to a raucous atmosphere. For Saturday's home opener, we are going to spice things up a bit. The chimes will still go off, but when they do, that's only the beginning. Saturday's pregame festivities will feature live appearances by The Architects and Tech N9ne, who recently voiced over Sporting KC's Super Bowl commercial. Be in your seats by 7:15pm!
3. Magnets and money from H&R Block
The first 15,000 fans through the gates on Saturday will receive a 2016 schedule magnet, presented by H&R Block. In addition, H&R Block will have their money machine on the Sprint Plaza. The line is guaranteed to be long so get there early!
4. Enhanced security measures
Safety is of paramount importance to all of us, so please make sure to arrive a little earlier at Children’s Mercy Park for the 2016 season. Starting this year, each supporter will be checked coming into the stadium, so plan accordingly so you don’t miss out on a minute of the action or our pregame festivities. Also, bags larger than 14" x 14" x 6" will not be permitted into the stadium.
- New menu at Children's Mercy Park
Earlier this week, we announced the items that would be added to the menu at Children's Mercy Park this season. Each match, we'll feature a different "Fan Flavor of the Game" and allow fans who purchase that item to win a coupon to be used on future purchases. Saturday's Fan Flavor of the Game will be the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich located at The Tap, Section 117. The Chicken and Waffle Sandwich is a classic layering of the best chicken and waffles, topped with maple pecan mayo, jack cheese, caramelized tobacco onion, applewood smoked bacon.
The first 20 fans that tweet a picture of their Chicken and Waffle Sandwich the hashtag #SKCEats will receive a coupon for future food/beverage purchases.
