The Swope Park Rangers return home on Wednesday night to take on Rio Grande Valley FC at Swope Soccer Village as the club hosts Bark at the Park Night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com, while tickets are available here.
The Rangers enter Wednesday’s game with a 3-5-2 (11 pts.) record after falling 2-1 to Portland Timbers 2 in Meridian, Idaho on Saturday night. Timbers 2 took the lead through Neco Brett in the first half before Victor Arboleda doubled his side’s lead in the 70th minute. SPR’s Mark Anthony Gonzalez pulled a goal back for his side in the 85th minute with his first professional goal but the game finished 2-1.
Rio Grande Valley FC are in the midst of a six-game unbeaten streak, having gone 3-0-3 since May 7, pushing their overall record to 5-2-4 (19 pts.). The Toros defeated Texas rival San Antonio FC 1-0 on Saturday behind a first-half goal from Kevin Garcia to move the club up to fourth in the Western Conference, seven places above the Rangers.
The last time these two sides faced one another, RGV claimed a 4-1 victory at the UTRGV Soccer and Track Complex in Edinburg, Texas on May 21. Two first-half strikes from Memo Rodriguez put the Toros 2-0 up before SPR’s Daniel Salloi cut the deficit in half just before halftime. Late goals from Rob Lovejoy and Emilio Garcia sealed the points for RGV.
