Sporting Kansas City kicked off the 2016 season in emphatic fashion on Sunday, exorcising the CenturyLink Field demons and earning a 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders. This weekend, the club will play a home game for the first time in four months when Sporting KC hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Children's Mercy Park. Limited tickets are still available for the match and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 888-4KC-GOAL.
In honor of the 2016 home opener, Sporting KC and H&R Block have partnered for a week's worth of social media takeovers and giveaways. Each day from Tuesday-Saturday, a different member of the Sporting KC organization will either be hosting a Q&A or doing a full-blown takeover of a Sporting KC social media channel. Fans who participate in each Q&A will be eligible to win a prize package that includes a signed Sporting KC flag and an H&R Block gift card.
In addition, we'll be giving away two tickets each day to one lucky fan who is following both @SportingKC AND @HRBlock on Twitter. Daily winners will be announced at 5 p.m. CT each day.
Takeover Schedule
Tuesday: Sporting KC president Jake Reid will be hosting a Reddit AMA at 2 p.m. CT. One person who asks a question during the AMA will be chosen for the prize package.
Wednesday: Sporting KC captain Matt Besler will be hosting a Q&A on Sporting KC's Facebook page. One person who asks a question during the Q&A will be chosen for the prize package.
Thursday: A Sporting KC player TBA will host a Q&A on Sporting KC's Twitter account following training. One person who asks a question during the Q&A will be chosen for the prize package.
Friday: A Sporting KC player TBA will take over the Sporting KC Snapchat account (username: sportingkc) to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at Sporting KC's training on the day before a match. One person who sends us a snap on Friday in Sporting KC gear will be chosen for the prize package.
Saturday: Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at his gameday prep on the Sporting KC Instagram account. One fan who posts a picture on Instagram with #SportingKC will be chosen for the prize package.
