"By The Numbers" is sponsored by The Kansas Department of Transportation. Impaired driving kills and injures thousands of Americans every year. Every hour, drivers are arrested for driving under the influence and for many, this will not be their first offense. Be safe and designate a sober driver.

Familiar foes will meet again Saturday as Sporting Kansas City (10-11-5, 35 points) hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC (8-11-6, 30 points) at Children's Mercy Park. The third meeting between the clubs this year will kick off at 9 p.m. CT, with three hours of live television coverage on 38 The Spot and SKCTV beginning at 8:30 p.m. CT. A limited number of tickets for the match are still available at Ticketmaster.com, and supporters are encouraged to arrive well before kickoff for the All For the Summer Celebration.

Currently fifth in the Western Conference standings, Sporting KC will look to extend their lead over eighth-place Vancouver as the playoff picture continues to take shape. History in the matchup favors the hosts, who will look to continue an impressive winning streak in the friendly confines of Children's Mercy Park. We take a statistical look at the matchup in our By The Numbers preview.
