Sporting Kansas City's globetrotting road trip reaches its final stop on Wednesday as the club visits Panamanian side Independiente in the first leg of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on YahooSports.com, the Yahoo Sports app, Univision Deportes, Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM.
Manager Peter Vermes' side is hoping to reach the semifinal stage of the Champions League for the first time ever, but Independiente have already sprung one upset against an MLS side and will aim to replicate the feat this time around. The 3,000-seat Estadio Agustin Sanchez in La Chorrera, Panama, will serve as the site of Wednesday's all-important first leg as both teams look to take an advantage into the decisive return fixture next Thursday at Children's Mercy Park.
With plenty to play for in the hot and humid conditions of Panama, let's take a statistical look at the matchup in our latest edition of By The Numbers.
