The 2019 MLS calendar kicks off in earnest this week with Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes traveling from Orlando, site of the 2019 adidas MLS Player Combine, to Chicago for Friday's MLS SuperDraft, before landing in Arizona for the start of the club's preseason campaign on Sunday.
Veteran soccer broadcaster Dean Linke caught up with Vermes for the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Podcast, released earlier today and embedded below, amidst the busy week of activity in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention and annual MLS League Meetings.

Vermes is among the featured presenters at this year's Convention and will participate in a Q&A session moderated by FOX Sports analyst Alexi Lalas on Thursday from 4-5 p.m. CT at the McCormick Place convention center. Vermes could again be in the spotlight on Thursday night as one of the top finalists for MLS Sporting Executive of the Year, with the winner to be revealed during the Club Executive Awards at historic Theater on the Lake, before taking his place at the draft day table on Friday.
