The Sporting Kansas City Academy enjoyed a wildly successful weekend on the indoor circuit
Six Academy teams were crowned champions at the U.S. Youth Futsal Central Regional Championships, which took place Saturday and Sunday at four different facilities across Johnson County, Kansas. Sporting KC cruised to a perfect sweep, as the U-12s, U-13s, U-14s, U-15s, U-17s and U-19s claimed titles on the final day of competition.
As a result of their respective triumphs, each Academy team qualified for the U.S. Youth Futsal National Championships, which will run from Feb. 16-19 at nearby Johnson County venues New Century Fieldhouse and Roeland Park Sports Dome. Nearly 150 teams from 19 different states will participate in the four-day tournament next month.
